Released as the latest film in the One BIllion Rising’s signature series, “One Billion Rising for Justice” tells the story of the 2014 rise for justice. This film premiered as the official campaign film and launched in connection with the announcement of the 2015 campaign.
Directed and Edited by Kirthi Nath (lead filmmaker at Cinemagical Media), “One Billion Rising for Justice” features featuring footage shot by amateur and professional cinematographers in 200 countries, as well as interviews with One Billion Rising global coordinators. The film waves together the story of how in 2014, activists in 200 countries rose for justice for all survivors of gender violence and the impunity that lives at the intersection of poverty, racism, war, the plunder of the environment, capitalism, imperialism, and patriarchy.
