Paramita
PARAMITA is a 24-minute documentary by Kirthi Nath that explores the transformative power of mindfulness, acceptance, and belonging. Part poetry, part memoir-style reflection and part prayer, PARAMITA bears witness to Prajna Choudhury’s 25-year coming out process with her traditional Bangladeshi mother. Told with intimacy and tenderness, PARAMITA invites us into a meditative spiritual experience as Prajna connects with Buddhist practices and nature as gateways for intergenerational healing. PARAMITA is a film with a quiet power that reveals itself as it unfolds…the film adds a new and nuanced voice to the conversation about coming out — giving testament that coming out is not individual, it’s a family process that can spark transformations and courage for parents also. Just like the main subject Prajna and her mom are transformed and heal, there is potential for us to be transformed too.
